Das bedeutet, dass es manchmal besser ist auf bestimmte Dinge zu verzichten, um sich Ärger zu ersparen. Schon damals gab es nämlich jede Menge zusätzlichen, für damalige Verhältnisse Luxus für Autos. Diese zusätzliche Ausstattung war nicht nur bei der Bestellung teuer, sondern verursachte auch Kosten für Wartung und Reparaturen. Das ist auch der Grund warum bis heute Luxusautos für Menschen mit wenig Geld keine gute Idee sind. Man darf da nämlich nicht nur auf den Anschaffungspreis sehen, sondern muss auch die Folgekosten beachten. Henry Ford verzichtete somit nämlich beim Ford Modell T auf alles, was man nicht zwangsläufig zum fahren brauchte. Somit konnte er seine Fahrzeuge nicht nur günstig anbieten, sondern diese verursachten auch geringere Kosten.
Den Spruch "Was nicht da ist, kann auch nicht kaputtgehen." kann man auch heute auf viele Bereiche übertragen. Oft ist also besser auf Dinge zu verzichten, die man nicht zwangsläufig braucht, weil die Kosten für Wartung und Reparatur es einfach nicht Wert sind.
