Der einzig wahre Dude entspringt dem Film, The Big Lebowski, herausragend verkörpert von Jeff Bridges, der den Arbeitslosen Herrn Lebowski spielt, der aber nichts mit dem reichen Big Lebowski zu tun hat und dessen Teppich das Zimmer erst so richtig gemütlich gemacht hat. Lebowski wird von seinen Freunden eigentlich nur Der "Dude" genannt und er ist somit für eine ganze Generation von Filmliebhabern und Hobbykiffern der Inbegriff des Ausstiegs aus der Ellenbogengesellschaft, dem Boykott des Systems und der Entwicklung völlig eigener Wertvostellungen und Zielsetzungen im Leben. Der "Dude" ist ein großes "Fick Dich" an alle Mütter, Lehrer und sonstige Onkel, die wollen, daß nochmal was aus dir wird! Der Dude weiß einfach besser was wichtig ist im Leben.
