Wenn man im Internet (Besonders in sozialen Netzwerken oder Foren) etwas fragen möchte, aber die denkt, dass die Stellung der Frage peinlich wirken könnte, schiebt man eine/n (fiktive/n) Freund/in vor, damit die Stellung der Frage nicht auf einen selbst zurückfällt.
Natürlich sollte eigentlich jedem klar sein, dass dies wie eben erwähnt gemeint ist. Deshalb ist „Ich frage für einen Freund“ auch eher ein Meme oder eine lustige Bemerkung zu peinlichen Fragen. Aber wie gesagt kann man damit auch unterstreichen, dass man etwas wissen möchte, aber die Frage aber warum auch immer peinlich, doof etc. findet.
