Das Wort zum Sonntag ist eine Sendung in der ARD die am Samstagabend ausgestrahlt wird. Dort halten unterschiedliche Pfarrer eine kurzer Predigt. Oft kommen da aber nicht nur religiöse Themen vor, sondern auch alltägliche Themen wie Politik, Umwelt etc. Oft ist das Wort zum Sonntag auch eine Moralpredigt.
Umgangssprachlich sagt man deshalb auch „Wort zum Sonntag“, wenn man jemanden eine Moralpredigt hält und/oder jemanden kritisiert. Wenn man selbst oder jemand anders kritisieren möchte, kann man es z. B. mit „Jetzt gibt‘s das Wort zum Sonntag“ ankündigen. Auf eine Moralpredigt kann man z. B. „Das war das Wort zum Sonntag“ reagieren.

However, it often addresses not only religious topics but also everyday issues such as politics, the environment, etc. Often, the "Wort zum Sonntag" is also a moral sermon.
Colloquially, people also say "Wort zum Sonntag" when they are giving someone a moral lecture and/or criticizing someone. If someone wants to criticize themselves or someone else, they might announce it with, for example, "Now comes the Wort zum Sonntag." A response to a moral sermon could be, for example, "That was the Wort zum Sonntag."
