Eigentlich ist „Moin“ eine ursprünglich norddeutsche Grußformel, die man zu jeder Tageszeit und Nachtzeit benutzen kann.

Allerdings ist die Wendung „ja Moin“ schon älter, da sie im Internet bereits seit 2017 Verwendung findet. Der YouTuber und Twitch-Streamer MontanaBlack verwendet seit 2019 ebenfalls die Wendung „ja moin“, was „ja Moin “noch bekannter macht.
Warum man „ja Moin“ sagt, ist nicht bekannt. Es wird aber vermutet, dass irgendjemand mal die Wendung „Ja ne (is klar) zu „ja Moin“ abgewandelt hat.
