die Assoziation von Zahn und Geschwindigkeit rührt wohl ursprünglich von einer Zahnstange über Kochstellen her (je tiefer der Topf hing desto schneller erhitzte sich das Essen darin) und Anfang des 20.Jh., bis weit in die 1940er Jahre, hatten die Hebel mit denen man die Geschwindigkeit von Flugzeugen und Motorräden steuerte, Zahnstangen um die Stellung des Hebels sicher zu fixieren (gegen Vibrationen). "Affe" wahrscheinlich, weil man seit jeher davon ausgegangen ist, dass nur ein Primat - jedenfalls keinefalls der homo sapiens als "denkender Mensch" - sich auf derart wahnwitzige Geschwindigkeiten einlassen würde...
🇬🇧 The association of "tooth" and "speed" likely originates from a rack and pinion over cooking stations (the lower the pot hung, the faster the food heated up) and in the early 20th century, until well into the 1940s, the levers used to control the speed of airplanes and motorcycles had racks to securely fix the position of the lever (against vibrations).
"Monkey" probably because it has long been assumed that only a primate—certainly not Homo sapiens as the "thinking man"—would engage in such insane speeds...
