Während dem Phlegma Stoisches und Unbewegliches innewohnt, ist das Wesenhafte der Amore/Liebe tiefes Gefühl, Leidenschaft und/oder Verbundenheit, die Berge versetzt. Dennoch soll es die beides ambivalent vereinende "Phlegmamore" geben. (Nicht zu verwechseln mit Plegmone.)
Der Begriff kann einerseits für die Gefühlswelt von Personen stehen, die zwar Liebes- und Sehnsuchtsempfindungen haben, aber trotzdem schwerfällig sind. D.h., also wie phlegmatisch ihrem verwachsen Gewohnten stärker verbunden sind und dem mehr folgen als der Herzenssache.
^Der Astrolügie zufolge soll dies auf Stier-, Jungfrau- oder Steinbock-Menschen zutreffen, da jene ein schwerbewegliches, kurzfristiges Temperament hätten und für die es wichtig sei, in der materiellen Welt zu wirken. Deren Grundrichtung sei die Tat und höchste Werte seien ihr Platz in der Welt. ("Fest gemauert in der Erden..." wie Schillers Glockenform?)^
Andererseits kann der Begriff stehen für solche Qualität einer Beziehung, wenn diese sich trotz bestehender Zuneigung dem Schlafmodus nähert.

On the other hand, the term can also describe the quality of a relationship when, despite existing affection, it approaches a state of dormancy.
