Das Wort kommt aus dem Amerikanischen und ist die Abkürzung von "Low Life People". Damit sind nicht etwa arme und ungebildete Leute gemeint (Armut ist ja keine Schande), sondern arme und ungebildete Leute, die total zufrieden mit dem sind, was sie (nicht) haben und gar keinen Ehrgeiz verspüren, ihre Lage zu verbessern, obwohl sie es mit ein wenig Anstrengung könnten.
Achtung: Nicht anwendbar bei chronisch Kranken und behinderten Mitmenschen!
